Baxter Springs is located in the extreme southeast corner of Kansas on the historic US Route 66 highway in Cherokee County.

Leavenworth, KS to Fort Smith, AR. We also offer three sports complexes, fishing and camping on Spring River, upland game hunting, motocross track, a nine-hole golf course and country club and a city park. The city of Baxter Springs takes pride in the quality education that it provides. The Baxter Springs public school system serves grades K through 12 and is a National Blue Ribbon School. Many universities, four-year colleges and community colleges are within driving distance including Pittsburg State University, Missouri Southern State University, Crowder College, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College
With the discovery of lead and zinc in the Tri-State district, Baxter Springs became a prosperous business center. The demise of mining left its mark, but unlike many other less fortunate communities, the city recovered through the diversification of business, agriculture and industry to become one of the most attractive and progressive cities in the area. Baxter Springs’ economic growth is apparent and is home to many aspiring businesses, including KMT Waterjet Systems, Bagcraft Papercon, and Atec Steel Fabrication. Baxter Springs also has many churches in the city limits, and provides easy access to additional congregations in surrounding cities.
